Smoking As One Outside Factor Contritbuting To Receding Gums

Outside factors of receding gums includes smoking or the use of tobacco products without the presence of any periodontal disease. These are all primers for the development of periodontal disease, promoting the build up of plaque that can lead to bleeding and receding gums and the chance that pockets can be deeply created between teeth where bacteria can be trapped and can multiply fast. The effects of smoking can also include the blockage of mineral absorption which can result to bone loss in the jaw. The best thing is to quit smoking ahead of time before you suffer the worst consequences of gum loss and periodontal disease.
