The Relationship Of Diabetes And Gum Infection
Diabetes is a systemic disease found to have a two-way relationship with periodontal disease or what we call gum infection. It has been already known for years that individuals with diabetes are more likely to have periodontal disease compared to people that do not have diabetes. Recent dental research emerging to suggest that the relationship of the two conditions go both ways. It is because of periodontal disease that diabetic people are in struggle to control their blood sugar. Severe periodontal disease is known to increase the level of the blood sugar. This condition can put you at high risk for diabetic complications. Meaning to say, keeping gum infection under control may help you control your diabetes.
