How well can a person make a living selling digital 3D models?

Assumming he has the talents to create really good 3D models, e.g. models of car, and other vehicles and selling them for their artistic value. Is there anyone out there like this?
Assumming he is working with high-end 3D modelling programs such as 3D Studio Max, Lightwave, Milkshape, etc.

You can certainly make a living at it, but you'll have to look hard to find paying projects, and make sure to make yourself known in the community. You may be able to get better connections through a school like the one below.
